YouTube star Nikki Phillippi is facing backlash for euthanizing her dog Bowser for being ‘aggressive’ after he bit her one-year-old son Logan.
The influencer, 33, took to Instagram on Monday to share photos of Bowser with her family over the years — including a new photo of him with Logan — to announce that she and husband Dan Phillippi took him down.

‘Your dog didn’t fail you, you failed your dog,’ another Instagram user hit back. ‘To end your dog’s life in this manner is deeply disturbing.’
Many people also took issue with the fact that she had a photo shoot with Bowser before putting the dog down, including a picture of him close to Logan, whom he had bit.
‘A “pre killing my dog” photo shoot. cute,’ one person commented, while someone else asked: ‘A photo shoot while you were killing your dog???!! How is any of this okay??’

Nikki and her husband Dan elaborated on their decision to euthanize Bowser in a YouTube video posted to her channel on Monday with the comments disabled.
The couple explained that Bowser was attacked as a puppy, which contributed to his aggressive nature, and he had ‘seriously injured a couple different dogs’ in the past, including their other dog Zoe.
The mom noted that they had considered euthanizing Bowser five years ago after a moment of ‘aggression.’
In the most recent incident, she said Bowser bit Logan in the face after the toddler took food from him. They said that while the bite ‘wasn’t bad,’ their son still has a ‘little mark.’
She claimed they had consulted with a humane society about rehoming Bowser but was told that wasn’t an option for the dog, who had been with them for nearly a decade.

‘In some ways it’s been anticipated for a really long time, and in others, it was completely shocking,’ she said. ‘Never crossed my mind — “Oh, now we’re gonna have to put Bowser down” — I just thought, “Oh, he’s just gotta be in the right home.” But after getting counsel from multiple professionals who are with dogs all the time, all of them said that, they all said the same thing.’
Nikki concluded the video by reading ‘a list of things that I’ll never forget about Bowser’ while showing a montage of photos of the dog.
She became emotional and started to cry as she recounted ‘the way he smelled’ and ‘the thick fur on the back of his neck.’
While the comments on the video were disabled, that didn’t stop viewers from slamming Nikki on Twitter.
‘On today’s episode of influencers are the real pandemic… @NikkiPhillippi puts down her dog for biting her kid but not before she has a photoshoot with the dog inches away from the kid the dog allegedly bit and needs to be put down for. F**k you,’ one person tweeted.
Not going away: Critics have been taking to Twitter to denounce the couple, who both made their Instagram pages private on Thursday
‘I’m not going to watch the Nikki Phillippi video — but can someone tell me if they showed “proof” that the dog was euthanized?’ actress Meghan Rienks asked. ‘I’m having a hard time believing a vet would do that; and a way easier time believing they murdered him at home.’
YouTuber Lauren Riihimaki urged people to hold Nikki accountable, writing: ‘For 3 days, this story of @NikkiPhillippi unnecessarily euthanizing her bull terrier has truly shaken me to the core and makes me SICK. Please hold them accountable for this cruel decision and know that there are OTHER OPTIONS.’
Other Twitter users shared photos of Dan’s Instagram bio, claiming he had written ‘Dog Murderer (allegedly)’ before removing it.

Both Nikki and Dan made their Instagram pages private on Thursday in the wake of the ongoing criticism.
